Many plastics artifacts, being considered of historical and cultural heritage value, now a day, find place in private and public collections and in many museums. Generally these objects may be subdivided in th following two broad categories: artistic objects and artifacts of historical and scientific interest. Unfortunately quite a number of these items are showing more or less severe symptoms of degradation such as a discoloration, yellowing, crazing and cracking, warping, sticking (due to the migration of plasticizers from the interior towards the object surfaces), ecc..
